The Archaeological Museum exhibits including finds both from the island and from the mainland opposite, some of them dating back to the Neolithic period. There are also bronze statuettes from Archaic to Roman times, coins from the 6th century BC, Cycladic sculptures,and much more. Among the outstanding exhibits are those of a 6th century BC relief of Dionysos on a couch with a lion beneath it, and the Gorgon Pediment from earlier in the same century. Open Tues-Sun 8:30 am to 3 pm, 2.35 euros admission.

British cemetery Many people come here to see the flowers, as this cemetery is also a botanical garden, with many species of orchids in spring and early summer, along with other flowers.

Mon Repos Estate
Now an archaeological park, the estate has a neoclassical villa once used by the Greek royal family. Open daily in summer 9am-3pm, 2.50 euros admission. Remains of a 5th century basilica found at Palaiopolis are across from the gate of the estate. Alng the wall of Mon Repos near the Venetian church is the all-year spring of Kardaki, which flows from the moth of a stone lion. The ruins of 6th century BC Doric temples, dedicated to Hera and Artemis, are located below the spring.

Aghios Iassonos and Sosipater
With beautiful icons and iconostasis, this this 11th century church is the only Byzantine style church on the island. It houses the tombs of the martyrs for which the church was named, who brought Christianity to the island in 70 AD, under instruction of St. Paul..

Other sites of interest include the 6th century BC Temple of Artemis, with a Hellenistic stoa wall and altar, the Aghios Theodori 5th century convent, and the islets of Vlaherna and Pondikonisi. One can walk to Vlaherna over a causeway in about an hour, where there is a convent, though Pondikonisi requires a caique from the dock at Vlaherna (1.50 euros round trip).

There is also the strange Teutonic neoclassical palace of Achillion, built in 1890 by an Austrian Empress, with nice gardens and good views.
