Boats go every hour in summer to the wooded Vidhos islet to the north of the Old Port, for less than one euro round trip; yachts moor in the big marina at Gouvia; there are some pebble beaches at the bays of Dhafnila and Dhassia; Ipsos and Pyrgi are busy summer resorts, with Mt. Pandodrator a popular hike from near the second of these, the village of Ano Korakiana, inland from Ipsos, has a folk sculpture museum and an olive wood workshop.
Strinylas is a starting point for a hike to the Venetian village of Epskepsi (5 km), with a good hiking book wih maps of the area sold locally. Barbati is the big beach resort, built on this coast’s best beach, with much accommodation pre-booked.
There are some quiet coves at Nissaki, some of which are reached on foot only, with a craft shop, some tavernas, and an olive wood shop near the fishing port.
Snorkelers frequent Kaminaki beach, which is on a pebbly bay with clear water, some tavernas, water sports and boats for hire; Agni cove also has very clear water and some excellent tavernas.
There’s a huge self-cateriing resort at Kalami, with a pebble beach on a bay, good tavernas, as well as a small village; Kouloura is less developed than Kalami, with a little village and harbor on a nice bay with pine trees, some 17th century mansions and 16th century Venetian tower.
Aghios Stephanos is an attractive, upscale resort, with a small beach and some good tavernas; Kerasia, reached from Aghios Stephanos has a nice shaded white pebble beach in a cove with a taverna; there are also white pebble beaches at Avlaki and Koyevinas, the first very popular with windsurfers, a wind-surfing club, two tavernas and rooms; there’s one taverna at the second.
